About Scott Johnson & Terri Johnson of U.S. Airborne :
Scott Johnson began his flying journey with hang gliding here on the Snake River of
Washington State back in the late 70s. Scott moved to the Owens Valley,
California during the hay day of hang gliding. This is where Scott and Terri Johnson (Bush) met
in 1987. The Owens was considered the best air and best cross country flying
(Extreme Air). He has always loved flying cross county and has 52 flights over
100 miles in the Owens Valley, of California and Texas, with his longest hang
gliding flight at 179 miles landing in Happy, Texas. Around that time Terri had
traded her hang glider for a paraglider, being among the first 200 APA members.
Scott also expanded his interest to include paragliding and added one of the
longest flights in the U.S. with his paraglider at 141 miles to his credit.
Scott is an advanced instructor in Paragliding and Paramotoring also called
powered paragliding as well as Trikes also called Microlights, Ultralight trikes
or Special light Sport aircraft . Scott first became interested in the Trikes
when he was participating in the Americas Cup Hang Gliding competition held in
Australia. The 60+ competitors where towed skyward with Airborne Trikes. Scott
was impressed and purchased his first Trike in 1991 and learned to fly it in the
Owens Valley (Sierra Nevada Mountains). Scott and Terri moved to Asotin,
Washington in 1994 building on the dream of a place to fly and teach were the
recreation options that they enjoy are available. Scott and Terri have now purchased a home in Marana, AZ for a more flight friendly environment, during the winter months and will operate here for approx. eight months then travel to Washington and the Eagles Nest for the hottest months. We traveled through this life experience with Chopper our yellow nape macaw for 16 years and Sundance a 6 year old Doberman. Chopper's
final sunrise was Feb 4th 2011, he is forever missed in this physical life, our
family is not the same. Sundance remains the wildchild and enjoys wandering the deserts while we hunt meteorites, our second passion . We are blessed to have added a baby yellow collar macaw to our family, Rio was hatched July 31 and came to us on Oct 4th 2011. He has helped to heal our hearts and we love having him with us. Scott is at most of the
air shows and stays busy teaching, selling and setting up aircraft year round.
Scott is also available to travel to your location for set up and training when
you purchase a trike from him. Dreams do come true, but you have to want it
enough to make it happen.

Terri met Scott in the Owens Valley, California in 1987. Terri didn't know a
thing about flying and at the time was happy to leave the flying to Scott.
Terri, however is a great driver, who actually enjoys it and can drive most
anything, most anywhere. Terri drives for the majority of Scott's adventures
and can proudly say she has never lost him. Terri has been seen in the most
remote of locations, standing by the road side or in a field throwing dirt or
holding toilet paper streamers to indicate the wind direction for Scott.
Terri's flying began in 1988 with a brief time of hang gliding then moving on
to become one of the earliest 200 members of the American Paragliding
Association. Terri learned to fly Paragliders in the Owens Valley in the early
days of the sport. Terri is currently learning to fly the Ultralights. Scott and
Terri managed the 1849 condominiums at Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort for the first
eight years together, flying and traveling on their time off. They then decided
to move to Washington to pursue a dream of full time flying. Terri has worked at
various careers over the past years, while the business was growing, including a
machine shop, grocery store, home health care and real estate appraisal. Why do
just one thing when you can do it all. In 2004 Terri was able to join in full
time at U.S. AirBorne. Terri enjoys riding her Sea Doo, rafting and kayaking on
the nearby waterways. Interest also includes meteorite hunting, riding her motorcycle, biking,
reading, working puzzles, hiking and FLYING.
* Written 2006. Chopper is quite a
character he is a yellow naped macaw and it never ceases to amaze us how many
people reach out and ask Chopper to bite them. Chopper is a great bird, but you
got to understand the rules. Rule number One - Chopper will look so cute you
will want to touch him, don't, he bites. Rule Number two - Scott is Choppers best
friend and he protects him, so please refer to rule number one. Scott and Terri
have lived with Chopper since 1994 when we brought him home as a baby. Chopper
travels with them and has had much practice at being part of the chase crew.
Chopper does amazingly well at airshows and traveling from one location to
another. Chopper talks and laughs a lot, but mostly when home with Scott and
Terri. When you're around Scott and he has a lump on his chest or back, the lump
is Chopper, he loves to hang out with Scott sleeping in his shirt or coat.
Choppers second favorite is Terri, allowing her to feed and play with him. Terri
gets an occasional kiss or two when Scotts out of town. Chopper traveled for
many years with his old friend Ray, also a Dobie, who moved to the next realm
Sept 2004. They were quit a team. Now Chopper has a new puppy to train,
Sundance.
Sundance is Scott, Terri and Chopper's Dobie. Sundance entered
our family in March 2006. Sundance was born January 5, 2006. The first thing
Chopper said to him was "hello pretty baby" and he still calls him baby.
Sundance is now learning the ropes. There is a lot to learn and see and do. He
is a beautiful, energetic boy just loving life. Sundance's favorite place is the
airpark where he can stretch his legs and chase butterflies. Sundance is a great
swimmer and enjoys time spent at the river swimming and running around the desert.
Update: 2011 After our devastating loss of Chopper, we missed the interaction so much with Chop we added Rio to our family. He is a wonderful baby and it seems as if he has been with us for a long time. We are looking forward to the wonderful times Sundance (now the teacher), Rio, Scott and Terri will have exploring together.
Some of Scott's adventures: Filming of Winged Migration, flying with the birds. Filming of The Skies of the Wild West Flying in Italy representing the USA at the World Air Games Float flying with Animal Channels, Whale Wars
